THROWBACK THURSDAY: Mos Def Freestyle x Art of Rhyme (2000)
Back in 2000, there was a documentary called Freestyle: Art Of Rhyme that premiered about aspects of freestyling within hip-hop, directed by Kevin Fitzgerald. There was a segment focusing on “cyphers” and here is the clip of Mos Def freestyling to demonstrate how cyphers take place:

MOVIE: Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Big Happy Family
Tyler Perry is gearing up for yet another Madea movie, the first he’s put out in a while. He’s had much success on his other movies without his famous character, such as A Family That Preys. Check out promotional movie covers for “Madea’s Big Happy Family” set to be in theaters April 22nd. He does parodies of Black Swan and The Godfather, take a closer look inside. Never thought you’d hear a line-up in a video with those names, huh? Neither did we. However, NIKE thought of a cool way to combine these Kings of the court, of music, and of movies, into a single video about Kobe Bryant a.k.a “The Black Mamba.” The “movie” is set to drop February 19th so keep an eye out for it on the NIKE website.
