8&9 is a conscious, independent clothing company. We design from a diverse perspective. Inspired by our passions and experience; street shit, hip-hop, skating, sneakers, modern politics and even pop culture. As a brand our focuses are concept, color, quality and details others overlook. Our path is one of constant improvement tweaking and fine tuning as we work to the top.
They have three flagship stores (Miami, Boston & NYC). Their latest lookbook is inspired by the times. The collection focuses on timely color as much as the graphic messages. Olive, red & cool tones of grey dominate this season’s palette. Holiday ’12 also marks the introduction of knit beanies and snapbacks accompanying hoodies, crewnecks and 3/4 sleeve raglans. The collection is in stores now and available at 8and9.com where shoppers can capitalize on free priority shipping upgrades for orders over $50.

The rap group Status Gang, including Gutta Gabe and Luchini B are from Washington, DC. and are also apart of the Monopolybread Records (an Indy label in D.C.) roster which is headed by Bosco CEO and AB the President. Status originated in Benjamin Banneker High school as they were joking around; the meaning of status was to be similar to saying “that’s wassup”. Now it can be either a good or bad thing i.e #thatsthestatus or #notthestatus.
On October 25th,The Temple Takeover Show at the Arts Garage included a headline performance from Status Gang. Here is a video of the mini-movie below, directed by Oaklyn. (which is also featured on WorldStarHipHop)

Starting back in 2008 and based in Manalapan, New Jersey, Profound Aesthetic has emerged in the fashion world as a streetwear brand with class. Their logo of the bear head with the bowtie solidifies just that. We couldn’t link up with them for our normal video interview, but we were still able to conduct a print version discussing the fashion industry in comparison to streetwear, along with how their brand ties into it all. Check it out below and more after the break…don’t forget to visit their site profoundaesthetic.com.
Profound Aesthetic: Lightly put, in a big way. Brands such as Obey and Supreme have played a major role in popular culture, even in the most recent presidential campaign. That’s huge. There is also no denying that high-end fashion has been inspired by this phenomenon, it shows in their current trends and their marketing, and the demographic they are now expanding to.
PA: Quality over quantity. We find that most of streetwear is on a race to release product on a consistence basis, and although that is great to generate revenue, it negatively reflects on the quality, both from a design prospective and often in craftsmanship. Not only do we have a fresh approach in our branding, but every single design is throughly thought out with purpose and meaning and put together with quality being the number one factor. That is what separates us. (more…)
Presented by Puma…the Mad Decent Block Party took place at Penn’s Landing for their Philadelphia stop and it was wild and crazy as expected. Flosstradamus turned the crowd up as did Diplo and Major Lazer of course. Check out some footage sB! was able to capture…
