The player with the highest hand, or the highest winning combination, wins the pot, and the rest of the players will have to settle for a sliver of the pot. In some variants, the winner is the player with the best card. In most games, the highest ranked card is the ace, and the next-highest card is the king, queen, or jack. This is the poker game’s version of the Golden Rule.
