Designer, Patso Dimitrov, used inspiration from regional Hip-Hop to reimagine a few NBA jerseys. The jerseys are subjected to new color themes as well as logo changes to draw in the hip-hop references to rappers who are from that area. For example, the Toronto Raptors jeresy, Dimitrov used the Toronto rapper, Drake‘s OVO brand, as inspiration. Also included in the reimagining are jerseys for the Detroit Pistons inspired by Eminem, Atlanta Hawks inspired by Outkast, New York Knicks inspired by Nas and Chicago Bulls inspried by Kanye West.
J. Cole‘s latest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, officially drops December 9th but has leaked yesterday much to the fans excitement. On one of the tracks, “Fire Squad”, we find Cole calling out a few white artists in the industry. Of the artists mentioned include: Iggy Azalea, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Macklemore.See the lyrics below:
“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes. Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows. Same thing that my nigga Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll. Justin Timberlake, Eminem and then Macklemore.”
“While silly nigga argue over who gon’ snatch the crown. Look around my nigga, White people have snatched the sound. This year I’ll be probably go to the awards dappered down. Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”
The North Carolina rapper concluded his rant with:
“I’m just playin’, but all good jokes contain true shit / Same rope you climb up on. They’ll hang you with.”
He may not seriously have an issue with these artists as it could be just for the art of rhyming. After all the Ferguson protesting and cases resulting in no indictments of the killer White cops…it has been getting Black people frustrated with White privilege more than ever.
