A$AP Rocky covers the April/May 2015 issue of Complex magazine. He shares his disappointments with his previous album, his current relationship status, the lack of respect within the Been Trill/Hood By Air beef, psychedelics, A$AP Yams and more. Peep an excerpt when he was asked about former girlfriend, Iggy Azalea:
OK, let’s go back to an old relationship: How do you feel about the criticism of Iggy Azalea for not being an “authentic” rapper?
That [situation with Iggy] is unfortunate because nobody wants to be portrayed that way. I’m quite sure she doesn’t. I think she works hard like the rest of us. Silly or not, 300 million people like to watch it on YouTube, so who the fuck are we to say anything?
So you don’t think the criticism is fair?
It comes with the game. If she fake on something, somebody is going to call her bluff. That’s life. I’m not looking at it from a standpoint of “I used to be boning this chick’s back out.” I’m looking at it [as] “She’s just a person.” You can’t bluff. You gotta just be 100. That’s all I could really say. The question is: Was she not being 100 about something?

J. Cole‘s latest album, 2014 Forest Hills Drive, officially drops December 9th but has leaked yesterday much to the fans excitement. On one of the tracks, “Fire Squad”, we find Cole calling out a few white artists in the industry. Of the artists mentioned include: Iggy Azalea, Justin Timberlake, Eminem and Macklemore.See the lyrics below:
“History repeats itself and that’s just how it goes. Same way that these rappers always bite each other’s flows. Same thing that my nigga Elvis did with rock ‘n’ roll. Justin Timberlake, Eminem and then Macklemore.”
“While silly nigga argue over who gon’ snatch the crown. Look around my nigga, White people have snatched the sound. This year I’ll be probably go to the awards dappered down. Watch Iggy win a Grammy as I try to crack a smile.”
The North Carolina rapper concluded his rant with:
“I’m just playin’, but all good jokes contain true shit / Same rope you climb up on. They’ll hang you with.”
He may not seriously have an issue with these artists as it could be just for the art of rhyming. After all the Ferguson protesting and cases resulting in no indictments of the killer White cops…it has been getting Black people frustrated with White privilege more than ever.
Jennifer Lopez introduced Iggy for her performance at the VMA’s Sunday night, proclaiming that she was a big fan of hers. So it all makes sense now as J. Lo releases a new remix to her “Booty” track, featuring the Australian emcee. The club banger originally featured Pitbull and was produced by Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina and Cory Rooney off her new album AKA.
The MTV VMA’s took place last night in Inglewood, California and it was an eventful night to say the least. The women of the industry took over as their were performances by Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Beyonce, who accepted the Michael Jackson Vangaurd Award. A few male performances took place as well including Usher, Sam Smith and Maroon 5. Check out the celebs who turn heads on the red carpet below. (more…)
Iggy talks with the infamous The Breakfast Club crew (DJ Envy, Angela Yee, Charlamagne Tha God) and discusses her being on Def Jam and her upcoming album, dropping April 21st. You know they touched base on her relationship with LA Laker, Nick Young.
LA Lakers’ player, Nick Young, and Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea, are labeled ‘Freakiest Young Couple’ in GQ magazine’s March 2014 issue. The two are featured in the latest issue showing off fresh looks by Versace along with their coupledom. Iggy admits at the shoot “Nick’s really goofy and funny…We don’t really watch basketball in Australia…I always joke with him, ‘I hope we don’t break up, because you’d ruin basketball for me.’ I really hope he doesn’t ruin basketball for me.”
Iggy Azalea did an interview with PAPERMAG along with her cover shoot. The 23 year old Australian blonde bombshell definitely did not hold back in the interview as she said exactly how she felt. In regards to her twerking and Miley’s latest takeover with the dance she said:
“I’ve been doing that onstage for two-and-a-half years. She probably fucking watched my videos online and decided to try it.”
