As told to FADER magazine, Tinashe reveals that she was the one who actually wrote Jennifer Lopez’s comeback single “I Luh Ya Papi”. Now Tinashe is a newcomer to the game and with her hit single, “2 On” featuring ScHoolBoy Q, it seems her career can actually go somewhere. We have been hearing more music from her since then so it’s looking like the R&B singer won’t be just another one hit wonder. If she has songwriting under her belt as well, the sky’s the limit for Tinashe.
She worked with producer, Detail, on the song originally titled, “I Luh You Nigga”, whom then shared it with J. Lo later on. Check out what she told FADER about how J. Lo got her hands on her song:
“It wasn’t ‘Papi’ at first, it was ‘I Luh You Nigga,’ like, I luh ya luh ya luh ya nigga. They switched the swag up a little bit! It was intended for Aquarius and everything. Then Detail was in a session with J. Lo and he played her the track, because you know these producers sometimes, they’re like ‘Yo, lemme play you my hot shit!’ I guess she obviously really liked it, and she cut her version. One day Detail calls me and is like ‘B-T-dubs, J. Lo is singing that song.’ I didn’t believe it at first, I thought he was just not trying to give it to me for some reason. I was like ‘J. Lo does not want that song, she’s not gonna sing that.’ And then it came out. I guess she wanted it.”
Jennifer Lopez introduced Iggy for her performance at the VMA’s Sunday night, proclaiming that she was a big fan of hers. So it all makes sense now as J. Lo releases a new remix to her “Booty” track, featuring the Australian emcee. The club banger originally featured Pitbull and was produced by Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina and Cory Rooney off her new album AKA.
The MTV VMA’s took place last night in Inglewood, California and it was an eventful night to say the least. The women of the industry took over as their were performances by Fifth Harmony, Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and Beyonce, who accepted the Michael Jackson Vangaurd Award. A few male performances took place as well including Usher, Sam Smith and Maroon 5. Check out the celebs who turn heads on the red carpet below. (more…)
