SPORTS: Ray Rice Released After Videos Leak + Celebs Reactions

Earlier this year in February, Ray Rice and his soon to be wife were involved in a domestic violence incident that took place in Atlantic City. The aftermath footage of what took place inside the elevator was caught and released on tape. As her helpless body was drug out by Rice and a domestic incident was reported, Rice was suspended for two games but continued to have the support from his Ravens team. However, since then the actual footage of what transpired inside the elevator has finally been released. It shows the couple in a heated argument where he reacts by punching her in the face and being knocked out cold. The NFL now has decided to take further action from their original punishment and suspend Rice and the Baltimore Ravens terminated the running back’s contract. Now the incident has been out there for some time and the Ravens chose to only reprimand Rice with a 2 game suspension initially. So now that the events taking place has been revealed to the world, Rice receives the ‘correct’ punishment.

Some feel uneasy that the NFL obviously didn’t care enough about the domestic violence issue only until after the video was released. The main question being posed is: Why did the video footage have to be released in order for Ray Rice to be given this punishment in the first place? It is very strange that we all knew the circumstances to the incident in the beginning and he only received the 2 game suspension. It’s even more strange that he married his fiancee less than a month after the incident. All of the video footage from inside and outside the elevator has been there from the beginning and it is safe to say the police and NFL were initially aware of all the disgraceful circumstances that took place that night. Since the NFL and Ravens made the announcement of his new found consequences and a lot of people have commented on the issue including: Columbus Short (accused of domestic violence with his wife), Evelyn Lozada (who was in a domestic violence with former husband, WR Chad Johnson), Cardinals’ Tyrann Mathieu, Seth Rogen and more.

MUSIC: Kanye West Speaks on 10th Anniversary of ‘The College Dropout’

Ten years ago today we finally released what had been my life’s work up to that point: The College Dropout. I say “finally” because it was a long road, a constant struggle, and a true labor of love to not only convince my peers and the public that I could be an artist, but to actually get that art out for the world to hear. I am extremely grateful to each and every person along that road who helped, lent an ear, lent their voice, gave of their heart to that project, and to all the projects that followed, and are to come. I am honored and humbled by my fans, for the unwavering support and love over the past ten years. I wake up every day trying to give something back to you that you can rock to and be proud of. Ten years later I am still the same kid from Chicago, still dreaming out loud, still banging on the door. The doors may be heavier, but I promise you WE WILL BREAK THEM.
